Felt Snail Flower Clips

My sister came over the other day and we got a lot of projects done! I guess I just need a little push. One of the projects was making hair bows. We made several different kinds – rosettes, silk flowers and these:

These were new for me. I had seen THIS tutorial and fell in love. However, as mentioned before I can’t quite follow directions. I see and then I do. So essentially mine look nothing like the tutorial, but I really like how it turned out! So I decided to do a step by step tutorial for you of what I like to call the snail flower.

Items needed:

Felt

Scissors

Glue Gun

Beads (or anything else you would like to use for the center)

Hair Clip

Ribbon

1.) Cut out a circle on the felt you want for your flower (we traced a cd)

2.) Then cut out a “snail” shape (eighteen25 shows great steps for this)

3.) Put a dab of glue on the back of your center

4.) Then continue to dab glue on the backside of your snail and wrap around

5.) Continue gluing and wrapping until the back looks something like this

6.) I then cut out leaf shapes in white felt

7.) Glue the leaves onto the back of your flower

8.) Then dig into your bead stash and find something you want to use for the center. I chose the pink beads

9.) Glue the beads into the center

10.) And lastly, glue ribbon onto the hairclip (totally optional) and glue the clip onto the back of the leaves.

And you should have something like this:

This is also a sneak peek of the other project we accomplished the other day. I am SO excited about this one!

I made those two clips for this onesie in particular. I was trying to be good when shopping with “S” and wasn’t going to buy anything and she convinced me to get this one, which was on clearance. She told me Ryan couldn’t get mad about buying this one. And she was right. I showed it to him and he loved it.

I would like to try to actually follow the directions and make some hair clips with eighteen25’s tutorial on the rolled felt flowers.
