My lovely friend “S” was in town with her adorable kiddos this week. We had a ball and I LOVED every minute of having someone to hang out with 24/7! Anyhow, since I finally got her birthday gift to her I am finally able to reveal it on here. I wanted to try something different and I have yet to make her an apron and once I saw this fabric I KNEW I had to make a ruffled apron especially for her! The fabric literally screamed her name!
I personally LOVE the way it turned out. However I am swearing off sewing new things until little miss is born because I am dumber than a box of rocks. My seam ripper and I are tight now and I don’t really want to know my seam ripper as well as I do. It was a simple concept, simple construction, yet I kept messing up! And there are flaws, lots of them. But I am sure to the naked eye you would never know. But I do and it bugs! The only flaw I want to point out is that I made the top part too small. I didn’t give any seam allowance when making the pattern. Stupid me! And because I am lazy I did a folded ruffle instead of a gathered ruffle. But I love it! I tried it on and it just looked silly on me with my giant chest and tummy and completely forgot to have “S” model it for me so you can get the full effect. {Send me a pic “S”!} And while sewing this I decided I might have to make some baby stuff for myself with my scraps. I LOVE the colors and prints!
So… remember how the other day I had a minor panic attack over diaper bags? Well, while “S” was in town we went shopping A.LOT! And one of the destinations was Nordstrom's to check out the diaper bags. The plan was to compare the JuJuBe to the Petunia Pickle Bottom bags and see if PPB had released their larger bag in the stores yet. And then shop around online and get the best deal. I asked the lady where the bags were and she showed me and told me they also have one left on clearance. In my head I was thinking… um yeah the ugliest PPB bag made… NOPE! I looked in the direction she was pointing and guess what I found!??? THE PPB bag I was coveting! I literally gasped and ran over to it and maybe squealed “this is the exact one I wanted”!!! Mind you this bag is discontinued and hard to find. It retails for $210 because it’s a limited edition. I had been eBay shopping the night before and these puppies were no cheaper than $2oo and high in demand. I don't want to say how much I got it for because then I sound like a brat bragging and I don’t want to make any of you jealous with my amazing score, but let’s just say it was A LOT less and better than any eBay deal I saw on any new or used glazed boxy backpacks. I was in no shape or form planning on buying anything, but I HAD to have it and couldn’t pass it up. I can’t even begin to tell you how elated I was!!! Do you wanna know what the happiest pregnant girl looks like? The below pics would be it! It only took a few tries to to try to capture my excitement in photo form… I need to get better at taking pics of myself.
BTW – this is baby girls’ bathroom. Dontcha love the towels?
Not only did I score THE BAG, but we moseyed on into Motherhood Maternity and scored 4 nursing bras on sale and a super cute maternity swimsuit! I don’t want to get into too much detail, but lets just say my bra size was impossible to find before getting PG and is most definitly down right unheard of now and I have yet to produce the leche. I almost fainted when the lady measured me. I was also googling nursing attire and couldn’t find anything in the size I would need that was under $60! And that was on eBay and had to be shipped from the UK!? strange, huh? THANK GOODNESS “S” is in the same boat and has had babies so she was able to guide me through the process. My girls finally have a comfortable and perfect fitting walking stick.
So two giant sighs of relief for me! Now what shall I have a panic attack over?? Birthing classes? to take or not to take? What do you suggest?

oh my gosh. you are the luckiest girl alive!!! how awesome that you found that bag! so jealous and I don't even know the price...
we took a class but it wasn't necessarily a birthing, lamaze class that you see in the movies where you are crouching on the floor and such. it was more of a "this is what to expect at the hospital and when you go into labor" class and we found it really helpful. it helped orient us to the hospital policies and also what to do to get ready for labor and while we're in labor and everything. they went over breathing too but it wasn't the whole class. I also know a lot of people that didn't take a class and everything was fine. but I liked to know what to expect and it helped me feel a little more comfortable about the whole thing.
I'm so jealous that I'm not even sure we can be friends anymore.
